Miriam "Mimi" Levinson, 79, died Sunday morning at her home with her loving family beside her. Born in Germany, Mimi and her family escaped Germany for Cuba in 1938; they then came to Vineland, NJ in 1940. The family started a poultry farm in Vineland where Mimi enjoyed a wonderful childhood. When she was 18 she moved to NYC and was a dance instructor for Arthur Murray; modeled; and attended the Student\'s Art League. Mimi met her beloved Husband, Jordan, on a blind date in 1960 and were married four months later. In 1963, they moved to Syracuse where Jordan established his optometry practice; raised their family; and had a wonderful life. They were members of Lake Shore CC; Lafayette CC; enjoyed golfing and had an active social life. Mimi will be remembered for her artistic talents with both the paintbrush, and in creating delicious meals for everyone to enjoy. Her husband, Dr. Jordan Levinson of blessed memory, died in December of 2010. She is survived by her children, Audrey (Tim) Levinson-Weigand and Dr. Bruce (Andrea Becker) Levinson; their grandchildren, Seth, Amber, Sydney and Max; her beloved Yorkie, Miss Ellie; and nephew, Barry (Bonnie) Ivler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service on Friday at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street, from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, in Mimi\'s memory may be made to The McMahon-Ryan House.
