Sadie Lavine, co-owner of Sadye-Ann Dress Shop, a center of fashion for Syracuse women for more than 50 years, died today at University Hospital. She was 89 and lived in Syracuse. Mrs. Lavine owned the store, located for years at 435 S. Warren St., with her late sister, Anne Pearlman. The sisters were fashionable, knew fashion and imparted a special sense of style to those who traded with them. They bought special items for their customers during their many trips to the fashion houses of New York City. The top designers were represented in their collection. When a customer visited the shop, she did not have an array of fashions to choose from. Rather, they were brought to her individually for selection, as she relaxed while catching up on the latest news with the sisters. Mrs. Lavine was a life resident of Syracuse. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun. Surviving are a nephew, William Pearlman of Fayetteville; two nieces, Melissa Eckert and Kip Goldman, both of Gaithersburg, Md.; and a grandnephew.
Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Temple Adath Yeshurun, Rabbi Charles S. Sherman and Cantor Harold Lerner officiating. Burial is in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery, Syracuse.
