Thelma (Miller) Cohn
Thelma Miller Cohn, 101, died on October 8, 2016 in Sarasota, FL. She was born in Syracuse, NY in 1915, the 3rd of 7 children of Libby and Morris Miller. Thelma was a child piano prodigy. She was a popular accompanist and arranger until her final days. For 15 years, Thelma and Bea Solomon, her music partner, performed throughout the Northeast, presenting "one woman interpretations of Broadway shows" for charitable causes. Since moving to Venice, FL in the late 70\'s with her husband, Herbert Cohn, she was engaged in many musical endeavors, entertaining at senior centers, giving scholarships to gifted teens, performing with Venice Musicals, Suncoast Duo Pianists, and more. She was a life member of Hadassah and an active member of her temple and condo association. Survived by her daughter, Judy (Jack) Bloch of Longboat Key, and son, Donald (Barbara) Cohn of Palm Beach Gardens; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her sister, Shirley Kay of Syracuse, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment was at the Jewish Center of Venice Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the JVC, 600 N. Auburn Road, Venice, FL 34292.
