Phyllis Freeman Poushter was born December 1924 in Syracuse, NY, where she resided until 2005. Phyllis graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in medical illustration. She won various prizes for her art work, including the Syracuse University College Purchase Prize in1965, Jewish Community Center Syroco prize in 1968, Jewish Federation Creative Publicity award in 1971 and Dietz Prize at Syracuse University College in 1979. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun Sisterhood, Crouse-Irving Memorial and Upstate Medical Center auxiliaries. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and golf. She traveled all over the world with her husband and family. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Moloff. Survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dr. David L. Poushter; three daughters and their spouses, Linda and Larry Lublin, Susan and David Rothenberg, Karen and Tom Kinneman; grandchildren, Jeremy and Julie Lublin, John Rothenberg, Michael Rothenberg, Gregory Kinneman, Kevin Kinneman; great-grandchildren, Phoebe Brand, Nathan and Eli Lublin; her sisters, Ethel (Dr. Martin) Black and Marilyn (Erwin) Goldstein; her brother, Cyril (Ellie) Freeman; in-laws, Shirley and Bob Rosen; and many nieces and nephews Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 7, at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service on Sunday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to Temple Adath Yeshurun; The Summit at Brighton; or Lifetime Care Hospice. Shiva will be observed in Rochester.
