Irving J. Bronstein, 75, 819 Kimry Moor, Fayetteville, died Monday at Crouse Hospital. Mr. Bronstein was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He co-founded Colonial Home Improvement in 1947. He also was a founder in 1965 of Upstate Builders Supply Co. and had served as its president. Mr. Bronstein was a general partner in the ownership of the State Tower Building and was a director of Onondaga Venture Capital Co. Mr. Bronstein was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, had served on its board of directors and was co-chair of its endowment fund campaign. He also was a member of the board of directors of the Syracuse Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Home of Central New York and the United Way. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Bronstein was named the 1989 Temple Adath Yeshurun Citizen of the Year. Surviving are his wife Irene; sons Neil of Fayetteville and Gary of Chevy Chase MD.; daughter Dianne Goldman of Fairfield CT; brother Jack of Florida; sister Sara Epstein of Suffern; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
