Harold Margolis, 87, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Warren Alpern in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and moved to South Florida in 2000. He was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, and Bnai Brith. Harold was stationed in the Philippine Islands as a sergeant in WWII. He started his career as a salesman for Cardomones and later became sales manager for Service Liquor Distributors. Harold was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Shirley (Jachles); daughter, Renee Ida Margolis; and brother, Arthur; also the son of the late Frank and Bessie Livshin Margolis. Survived by his daughter, Gail (Warren) Alpern; son, Lawrence (Patricia) Margolis; grandchildren, Aaron Ingber, Micah Ingber, Rachel Margolis, Lyndsey Bettio, and Andrew Alpern. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the chapel prior to the service. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the nurses at Vitas Hospice and Trust USA Home Health Agency. Contributions in Harold\\'s name may be made to Alzheimers Research.
