Janet Bennett, 81, of 1301 Nottingham Road died Tuesday at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital. A native of Utica , Mrs. Bennett resided in Syracuse for more than 60 years. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun and its Seniors Group and Sisterhood. She was a 50-year member of the Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a member of Hadassah. She volunteered at the Jewish Home of Central New York, and was a member of its auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Alan of Jamesville and Leslie of Colonie; a brother, Harold Gersten of Lake Worth, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, with Rabbi Charles Sherman and Cantor Emanuel Perlman officiating. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the home of her son, Alan, at 6236 The Hamlet, Jamesville, and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, 1909 East Fayette St. Friends may call at their convenience after the funeral at Alan Bennetts home. Contributions may be made to the Glenda Bennett Patient for Patient Fund, 110 Montgomery.
