Robert Tankle

Robert Tankle, 87, formerly of Syracuse, NY, died peacefully Sunday morning in his home surrounded by his loving children, Mark and Reva. Robert, the son of Samuel Tankle and Rose Levinson Tankle, was born and raised in Trenton, NJ, where he met his future wife, Mitzi Goldstein. Robert graduated high school in Trenton, served in the Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge and completed an engineering degree from Yale University. In 1949, Robert moved to Syracuse, where he worked for Kramer-Trenton Corporation as a refrigeration engineer and salesman until his retirement. Robert was the former president of the local chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club and served on the ADKs board of governors. Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 31 years, Mitzi. He is survived by his children, Mark, Reva and Lynn Tankle, and his grandchildren, Max and Sam McArthur. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service, from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Shiva will be held at the home of Reva Tankle and John McArthur in Holliston, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberts memory may be made to the Onondaga Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club; to Temple Beth Torah in Holliston, MA; or to Jewish Family Service of Metrowest in Framingham, MA.
