Dr. Julius Jacob Weinreb, age 93, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013. He was born October 15, 1919 to Wolf Aaron Weinreb and Esther Horowitz Weinreb in Bronx, NY. As a youth, he showed an unusual aptitude for schoolwork, and was admitted to the prestigious Townshend Harris High School. After his graduation from the City College of New York in 1939, he was admitted to the dental school of Columbia University. At the time of completing his doctorate in 1942, he was the second youngest person to graduate in the history of the school. Dr. Weinreb served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. In 1948, he came to Oswego, New York and established a dental practice, which he continued until his retirement in 2000, at the age of 80. In 1951, he married Delores Kamp of Fulton, New York; the couple had two children, a son and a daughter. Dr. Weinreb was a member of Temple Adath Israel in Oswego, the Columbia University Alumni Association, the Anti-Defamation League, and was a life member of the American Dental Association. He is survived by his two children, Allan Weinreb of Beacon, New York, and Shelley Weinreb of Webster, New York. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery.
