Joseph Meadvin, 76, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Syracuse died Friday after a short illness at Pembroke Pines. Mr. Meadvin was president of Southland Oil Company until he retired in 1971. He was a pioneer in the oil business in Central New York, having joined Southland with his brother and father in 1934, the year received his B.A. degree at Syracuse University. He was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, the Temple Brotherhood and LaFayette Country Club. Mr. Meadvin is survived by his wife, Pauline of Penbroke Pines and Syracuse; a son, Mark, of Fayetteville; a brother, Jack, of Syracuse; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette St., Rabbi Charles S. Sherman and Cantor Harold Lerner officiating. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery.
