Robert Rosen, 85, a native of Syracuse and recently of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away Saturday night, May 7, 2011, in Florida. Robert attended Nottingham High School and Syracuse University and served in the U.S. Marines, stationed in the Pacific during WWII. Robert spent a long career contributing to the floor covering industry and will always be remembered for his loving dedication to his family, his lifelong interests in sports and current events, and his sincerity, wit and compassion. Survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; sons, Michael (Ryuko), James (Barbara) and Steven (Sally); brother, Marvin; sister, Eileen Berger; grandchildren, Kimberly Rosen, Jaclyn and Ryan Rosen, and Sydney and Maxwell Rosen; also many nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends in Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Florida. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Temple Adath Yeshurun, 450 Kimber Rd., Syracuse, NY 13224; or the charity of your choice.
