Stricken with pneumonia yesterday while undergoing treatment for an arm fracture at Crouse-Irving Hospital. Mrs. Ray Witt Markowitz 67, wife of Myer Markowitz, 423 Columbus ave. retired merchant, died Thursday morning. Mrs. Markowitz, mother of Harry Markowitz, attorney, and Al Markowitz, florist, suffered the fracture in a fall down part of a flight of steps at her home last Friday. A physician was called and she was taken to the hospital, where the fracture was reduced. She was showing signs of recovery when
pneumonia developed yesterday. A native of a small village near Warsaw, Poland, Mrs. Markowitz came to this country when a girl of 10 years. When she was 19 she married Mr. Markowitz and the couple came to Syracuse, where Mr. Markowitz opened a general merchandising store in S. Oeddes st. They resided In the west end of the city until a few years ago, when they established residence in Columbus av. Mrs. Markowitz was long active in various Jewish organizations and was prominently identified with Temple Adath Yeshurun. Surviving are her husband, five sons, Al, Harry, Saul and Joseph Markowitz of Syracuse and Robert Markowitz of Watertown; and two
daughters, Mrs. Philip Manheim and Mrs. O. Hughes. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at the home with Rabbi Jesse Bienenfeld officiating. Interment will be in Temple Adath Yeshurun cemetery
