October 29, 2004 Jane Glemby Lichtman, 85, died Friday in Fayetteville, NY. Jane\'s dedicated volunteerism began during WWII, at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. Later, she was an active volunteer at the SUNY Upstate Medical Center Chemotherapy Department,the Boca Raton Hospital Emergency Department and earned the distinction of being the first breast cancer survivor to volunteer in a pioneer program to help others suffering from the same disease. Born in Manhattan and educated in Switzerland, Jane was a resident of Delray Beach, FL. Mrs. Lichtman, a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, was predeceased by her beloved husband, Retired Colonel Alfred Lichtman, USMC, in 1991. Survived by her daughter Victoria; son Jonathan (Betsy); grandchildren, Jared and Jenna Lichtman; as well as Valerie and all the many others whose hearts she touched and considered her a loving mother and friend. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Temple Adath Yeshurun. Calling hour from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Temple, 450 Kimber Road. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery.
