Sidney H Greenberg Esq
March 25, 2003 Sidney H. Greenberg, lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, died after a short illness at age 91. Mr. Greenberg was active in the organizing of labor unions in the early days of the CIO. He ran for US Congress on the American Labor Party ticket in 1948 and was active in the political community. He served as the general council for the CIO of Onondaga County. He gave many eloquent speeches for local labor organizations. He was a former member of the Zionist Organization of America; former Treasurer of the Syracuse Jewish Federation; former President.of the Syracuse Jewish Community Center, and a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun. Mr. Greenberg was a 50-year member of the Onondaga Bar Association. He practiced law for 65 years in the State Tower Building until his retirement in 1999. In 1951, Mr. Greenberg argued one of early Free Speech cases before the U.S. Supreme Court in Feiner vs. New York. Mr. Greenberg was married to his first wife Lillian for 30 years. She died in 1972. Survivors: His Wife Rita; sons, David (Randy) and Paul; a Grandson, Corey Datz Greenberg, and a sister, Irene Bronstein. Services: 2 PM Thursday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel.
