Max Baker Dies, Former Syracusan

ROME. — Max Jacob Baker, 78, Fort Stanwix Park, died Wednesday at the Rome hospital. He was born in Russ-Poland Dec. 23, 1872 and came to the United States in 1885. He married Anna Davis of Syracuse in that city June 25, 1895. Mrs. Baker died Dec. 7. 1934. Mr. Baker came to Rome from Syracuse in 1905 to open a custom tailoring shop which he operated until illness forced him lo retire last spring. He was a member of Hathaway Lodge, F5.-AM. Survivors are four sons, Lawrence of Boston, Philip D. of Binghamton. Allen S. and Abraham H., both of Rome; four daughters, Mrs Serlin of Syracuse and Mrs. Jack D. Roswig and Mrs. Andrew S.I Knaucr of Rome, and 12 grandchildren.

He also had Two other sons, Ivan B. who. died Jan. 13, 1928 and Dr. Archie M. Baker who died last Sept. 24, 1950. Services will be at 1 p. m. Friday at the Waldo Wiggins Prince Home
