Sidney Berkowitz
Services for Sidney Berkowitz, 50, of 239 Fayotle Blvd., who died yesterday at State University Hospital after a short illness, will be at 2 p.m. today a the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, with Rabbi Theodore S. Levy and Cantor Harold Lerner officiating. Mr. Berkowitz was a native of Brooklyn and a resident of Syracuse for 26 years. He was cited in 1966 as "Post Office Carrier of the Month" by the late Postmaster Anthony F. Caffrey. He was a veteran of World War II and a post office employee for 10 years in the DeWitt area. He was a member of the VFW and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 134. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Celia Berkowitz; three sons, Neil, Steven and Robert, all of Syracuse; a brother, Benjamin Berkowitz of Queens; and a sister, Mrs. Sidney Sussman of Brooklyn. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience at the family home.
