December 23, 2005 Elias Waldman, 85, died Friday, December 23, 2005, at St. Josephs Hospital. Mr. Waldman was born in New York City, resided in the Syracuse area for over 50 years and most recently was a resident of Malta House in North Syracuse, supported by PACE of CNY, a program of all-inclusive care for the elderly. Mr. Waldman was co-owner of Waldmans Department Store in Chittenango until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II and Korea, a member of Chittenango American Legion and Onondaga Post 131 Jewish War Veterans. Mr. Waldman was predeceased in 1993 by his wife, Dorothy Waldman. Survived by his son, Mark Waldman; daughter, Lois (Seth Goodchild) Waldman; grandchildren: Allie, Sam and Justin Goodchild; and a brother, Jerry Waldman. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 East Fayette Street. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel.
