Shirley H Gersony
Shirley H. Gersony, 82, died Tuesday evening at St. Josephs Hospital. Born in Seneca Falls, she lived in Elmira until marrying David Gersony, of blessed memory, in 1952. They made their home in Syracuse where they raised their children and together, owned and operated Onondaga Music Company for over 50 years. Shirley was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun; the sisterhood of the Temple; and Hadassah. She loved, and looked forward to her Friday lunches with her girl friends, playing Mah Jongg; knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandson; and baking for everyone to enjoy. Shirley was a valued volunteer at WCNY where she read to the blind. She was a wonderful and loving person who took pride and pleasure in doing for others, and spending time with her family. Survived by her children, Howard Gersony, Bobbi and Cliff Malzman, and Marilyn and Terry Ryan; her grandchildren, Ari and Jessica Malzman, Alissa and Justin Sterling, Erin Ryan, and Owen Ryan; her great-grandson, Asher Sterling; her sister, Floriett Herman; and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, March 1, Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun cemetery. Contributions in Shirleys memory may be made to The Minyon Fund at Temple Adath Yeshurun, or WCNY. Shiva will be observed at Bobbi and Cliff\s home Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
