Carol North Schmuckler, 66, of 6811 Dutch Hill Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday. Born in Newark, N.J., she graduated from Syracuse University in 1957 with a bachelors degree in English and received a masters degree in 1985 from Newhouse School of Communications at SU. She retired in 2000 as senior editor and writer for the publications office at Syracuse University after 23 years. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun and the auxiliary of the Jewish Home of Central New York. She was a member of LaFayette Country Club and Salt City Center for the Performing Arts. Survivors: Her husband of 43 years, David; three sons, Eric of Tarrytown, Dr. Mark of Toronto and Adam of Kennesaw, Ga.; four grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. today at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Burial, Adath Yeshurun Cemetery.
