Gloria Wolk, 68, died Tuesday morning at the Cleveland Clinic. Born in Rochester, Gloria had lived in Syracuse since 1968. After graduating from Buffalo State College, she taught elementary school. She was then trained in social work by Monroe County and worked for the NYS department of social services in Syracuse, covering over eight counties. In the late 1980s, she returned to field work with the Onondaga County department of protective services, retiring in 2003. In her retirement Gloria worked for Onondaga Community Living with developmentally disabled adults and also worked for Prometrics proctoring exams for professional licensure to the trades. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun and the National Council of Jewish Women. Gloria especially enjoyed playing Mah Jong, dining with her gourmet club, and traveling. She traveled through Europe, the U.S. and Israel. During college she lived in Italy and spoke fluent Italian. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, and their children, Lisa (Stu) Stein and Dr. Lora Wolk; their grandchildren, Gabriella and Maxwell; and her twin brothers, Milton and David Rosenthal. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service tomorrow, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Wolks\' home Saturday night, Sunday and Monday.
