June 18, 2005 Hersch Greene, 87, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, died at home Saturday, June 18, 2005. Hersch was a 1939 graduate of Syracuse University and a 1942 graduate of the SU School of Law, where he graduated first in his class. He went on to have a successful career as a partner in the law firm of Greene, Hershdorfer and Sharpe. He served as president of the Onondaga County Bar Association and was honored in 1983 with the Associations "Distinguished Lawyer Award." Hersch enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 as a lieutenant and served as a combat pilot with the 15th Air Force group in Italy during World War II. He was decorated with a Distinguished Flying Cross and five air medals. As an avid amateur photographer, Hersch has had his works exhibited at the Everson Museum and the SU School of Journalism and has won numerous awards in international competition. Hersch was a lifelong member of Temple Adath Yeshurun. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Gert; son, Andrew (Sondra) Greene; daughters: Debra Greene (Regis) Quinn, Lauren (Gary) Cohen and Lisa Greene; four grandchildren: Joshua and Jamie Cohen, and Erin and Connor Quinn. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Temple Adath Yeshurun. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Temple, 450 Kimber Road. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery.
