Sara "Sally" Okun
May 2, 2008 Sara "Sally" Okun, of Syracuse, died Friday evening at Menorah Park. Born in Danzig, Germany, she immigrated to the United States as a child and lived most of her life in Syracuse. Sara owned her own catering business for years and was well known in Central New York for her elegantly managed events. Sara was a world traveler, loved meeting people and exploring different cultures. She was an accomplished bowler and received many trophies. She was active in the Adath Yeshurun Sisterhood. Sara was a loving and devoted mother to her surviving sons, Richard J. Okun of Fayetteville and David M. Okun of Syracuse. She was predeceased by her husband, Attorney Charles Okun, in 1995. A private graveside service was held Monday for immediate family at Temple Adath Cemetery. Rabbi Charles Sherman officiated. Contributions may be made to Menorah Park of Central New York.
