Irene Finkelstein
Irene Altman Finkelstein, 84, formerly of 753 James St., died Thursday at the Jewish Home of Central New York. A Syracuse native, Mrs. Finkelstein lived in Oneida before returning to Syracuse 20 years ago. She retired in 1955 as a bookkeeper with Goldbergs Furniture and previously was employed with Rudolph Brothers Jewelers. Her husband, Dr. Martin L., died in 1974. Mrs. Finkelstein was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, its Sisterhood and Oneida Chapter, OES. Surviving are two daughters, Rena Cantor and Norene Lavine, both of DeWitt; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m, Sunday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, Rabbi Charles S. Sherman and Cantor Emanuel Perlman officiating. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 1909 E. Fayette St. Contributions may be made to the youth programs of Temple Adath Yeshurun.
