Michelle Renee Schotz, 34, died Tuesday at her home in Virginia. Born and raised in Manlius, Michelle graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Potsdam and then earned her masters in reading education from Rutgers University. She pursued her teaching career in New Jersey and had moved to Virginia four years ago, where she was currently a gifted second-grade teacher at Little River Elementary School. Michelle had a tremendous impact on the lives of her students, who loved her. Her love for her family and the very special relationship she had with her sister, brother-in-law and nephews was the center of her life. Survived by her parents, Irving and Cheryl Schotz; her sister, Stephanie (Robert) Zachariasiewicz; her nephews, Luke and Jake; her uncles and aunts, David and Marcia Schotz, and William and Jane Permison; and several cousins. Funeral services will be noon Sunday at Temple Adath Yeshurun. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the temple, 450 Kimber Road, Syracuse. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. To honor Michelles love and caring of both children and animals, contributions are requested to be made to Ronald McDonald House or the ASPCA.
