August 4, 2006 Billie Shapiro, 69, of DeWitt, died Friday, August 4, 2006, at St. Josephs Hospital. Mrs. Shapiro was a secretary for Tile and Carpet Town Carpet One. Billie was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, an avid golfer at Drumlins Country Club, active in the Babe Zaharias Cancer Golf Tournament, enjoyed cooking and shared her recipes with anyone when asked. She was an expert dancer, active in Ft. Lauderdale playing golf, cards and Mahjong. Survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold Shapiro; sons, Robert (Patty) Shapiro, Michael Shapiro and Stuart (Laurie) Shapiro; six grandchildren, Mark, Scott, Eric, Troy, Zachary and Nathan; and a sister, Phyllis (Harold) Brourman. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2006, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 East Fayette St. Friends may call at the chapel on Monday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery.
