Funeral services for Samuel Pierson of 117 Henry st., owner of the Liberty Coal Company, who died in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City. Tuesday night, took place at the home at 1 oclock Wednesday afternoon, with Rabbi Jesse Bienenfeld and Cantor Samuel Arluck officiating. Burial was in Adath Yeshurun cemetery. Mr. Pierson underwent an operation three days ago. A native of Russia, he came to Syracuse 15 years ago and formed the coal company. He was a member of Lessing Lodge 163, I.O.O.F.; Mt. Sina Lodge 864. F. and A. M., and Temple Adath Yeshurun. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hilda Weisberg Pierson; three sons, Theodore, Robert and James Pierson; two daughters Miss Arlene and Miss Helen Pierson, and three brothers, Charles and Abraham Pierson of Binghamton and Dr. Max J. Pierson of Detroit, Mich.
