Dr Laurence Troeger
Dr. Laurence Troeger, a resident of Syracuse, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at the Jewish Home of Central New York. Dr. Troeger was a self-employed optometrist, maintaining an office in Baldwinsville for 40 years. A veteran of WWII, Laurence served in Europe and North Africa in the signal corps and the medical corps as an optometrist. He was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, Bnai Brith and Jewish War Veterans Onondaga Post 131 and was active in local, state and national American optometric associations. Dr. Troeger was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette Troeger, in 1990. Survived by his son, David Troeger; daughter, Marsha Ranieri, sister, Betty Spungen; three grandchildren, Jamie (Stephen) Lord, Mark (Melissa) Ranieri and Rebecca Troeger; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Addison Lord; and his longtime companion, Shirley Raymond. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette St. Friends may call on the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Contributions may be made to the Foundation at Menorah Park, 4101 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13214.
