Martin Rothman, 85, born in Brooklyn and a resident of Syracuse for over 50 years, died Monday, November 2, 2009, at the Jewish Home of Central New York. He was a World War II veteran, served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart during his tour in Europe. Martin was a former member of Temple Society of Concord and was formerly employed by Henry Frank Leather, Ra-Lin and Chase Pitkin. Mr. Rothman was predeceased by his wife, Sydelle Rothman, in 1992. Survived by his daughters, Brenda (Gilbert) Hoffman and Meryl (Steven) Ziegler, and four grandchildren, Brian and Hilary Hoffman, and Alyssa and Aaron Ziegler. Graveside service and burial will be conducted 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the Sydelle Rothman Scholarship Fund at the Jewish Community Center in Dewitt.
