July 26, 2008 Clara Z. Speigel, 83, of Syracuse, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Crouse Hospital. Clara was employed by the state of New York in Albany for many years and volunteered at the Jewish Home of Central New York and Laubach Literacy International through the Onondaga County Public Library. Mrs. Speigel was predeceased by her husband, Irving Speigel, in 1993. Survived by her son, Charles Speigel; daughters, Deborah (Marc) Goldfischer and Karen (Simon) Buisman; brother, Joseph Zalmanoff; grandchildren, Kevin, Amy, Michael and Megan Buisman, and Madison and Amanda Goldfischer; and her special friend, Donald Hogan. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette St. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Foundation at Menorah Park, Jewish Home of Central New York, 4101 E.
