Richard Leslie Goldberg September 3, 2011 Richard Leslie Goldberg, 65, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday. A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Richard showed his family, friends and peers how a strong, caring individual with Down syndrome can live happily and contribute meaningfully to our community. Richard was a proud graduate of Central High School and then enjoyed working at Consolidated Industries before participating in programs with Arc of Onondaga. He volunteered for several years at the Jewish Home of Central New York, where he made many friends and earned many admirers. He was an avid bowler who enjoyed visiting and laughing with his family and friends. Richard was predeceased by his parents, J. Harry and Helen N. Goldberg; his niece Martha Carmen; and his brother-in-law, Lawrence Carmen, M.D. Richard is survived by his loving sister, Joyce Goldberg Carmen; his nephews, Mathew and Peter (Mary Beth) Carmen; his great-niece, Margaret Carmen; and his great-nephew, Jackson Carmen. Services will be private. The family will greet friends this Thursday, September 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the home of Joyce Carmen.
