Nancy Levin, 59, died Sunday at her home in N. Palm Beach, FL. She loved education and got her dream job 10 years ago when she moved to Palm Beach County as a professor of speech communications at Palm Beach State College. Dr. Levin was a generous supporter of the college through major gifts. Her donations provided for the initial cost of constructing the Myrna Rubenstein Pavilion, including the fund that annually awards scholarships to students. The college had awarded her the Stewart Distinguished Teaching Award in 2007, and the PBCC Faculty Teaching Award in 2001 in recognition of her outstanding impact on the college. She earned a bachelors degree from Northwestern University, a Masters degree in speech communication from the University of Michigan, and a Juris Doctorate from the Chicago-Kent Law School. Dr. Levin was licensed to practice law in New York, Florida, and the United Kingdom. Nancy had practiced law in Syracuse for 18 years. She was a member of the National Communication Association, The Florida Bar Association, and the New York Bar Association. Nancy was an adventurous person who always wanted to try something new. She and her late husband Jim Mooney rode motorcycles, flew airplanes, went boating, and attended car shows to look at new and antique automobiles. She loved to travel and visited every continent on the planet, except Australia. Nancy was genuine and authentic; there were no hidden agenda. What you saw was what you got. She was kind, generous, and will be greatly missed. Survived by her children Jeffrey Levin, Alissa Levin, and Michael Mooney; her brother Marc (Mary) Rubenstein; and her mother Myrna Rubenstein. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will next to her father Irving in Adath Yeshrun Cemetery.
