March 7, 2004 Juliette June Lessen, 86, died March 7. Born in Syracuse, Mrs. Lessen was employed by the federal government as a civilian employee at Hancock Air Force Base in the commissary department; she retired in 1979. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, and the Temple Seniors Group; she also was a member of the Jewish Community Center, and was an active member of the Seniors Group. Mrs. Lessen was also a member of the Auxiliary of Onondaga Post 131 JWV and loved to play mah jong with her many friends. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Saul, and her parents Samuel and Theresa Port. Survived by: her daughter Sheila (Larry) Groskin; a son Todd (Kathryn) Lessen; a brother Harold (Jean) Port; grandchildren, Stefanie (Bruce) Mathews, Elissa Groskin, and David Groskin; great-grandson Jacob Mathews; nieces and nephews. Funeral services to be conducted Tuesday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, 1909 E.
