Evelyn Botnick, 90, a life resident of Syracuse, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at Crouse Hospital. Evelyn and her late husband, Benjamin, were the founders of Syracuse Card Company on Erie Boulevard East in 1948. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, Temples Sisterhood and member and past president of its seniors group. Mrs. Botnick was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Botnick, in 1994. Survived by her daughters, Susan (Joel) Better, Karen (Zaher) Alimi and Anita Persoff; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Herbert Abramson. Services will be conducted Monday, November 24, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Temple Adath Yeshurun or the Seniors Lunch Program at the Jewish Community Center.
